Walking through a few red torii gates in Sapporo might be the next best thing!

The Fushimi Inari Shrine of Sapporo doesn’t compare to the Fushimi Inari Shrine of Kyoto at all, but you may still find it to be worth a visit if you’re in the area!
The visit to this Sapporo shrine won’t be long, and you could be done in 10-15 minutes.

How to get to the Sapporo Fushimi Inari Shrine
It’s pretty easy to access the Fushimi Inari Shrine by public transportation and a bit of walking.
There’s a bus stop located about a 10-15 minute walk from the shrine.
The Sapporo tram that makes a loop around the city also has a stop that’s located around a 15-20 minute walk from the shrine.
Google maps can be a pretty reliable way to figure out how to get around Sapporo from your current location.
But once you locate the Fushimi Inari Shrine on the map, it’ll be better to set your destination as the “entrance” of the shrine.
It’s this street that you can go through the red torii gates.
The short trail (stairs) to the shrine basically start along the side of a normal road.
There is no entry fee for this shrine.
You can use your Kitaca card to get to the shrine
I took the tram to get to the shrine.
I was able to use the convenient Kitaca card, which is basically a recharge cash card.
If you’ll be in Sapporo for a few days and using public transportation, you might consider getting this card!
This will make it so you don’t have to individually pay for bus rides, subway rides, or tram rides. You can just swipe to pay.
If you’ll be in Tokyo or Kyoto before Hokkaido, you can use your suica card, pasmo card, or icoca card at most places that accept Kitaca cards.

Why else might you be in the area of the Fushimi Inari Shrine?!
Mount Moiwa (aka Moiwayama) is another reason to come to this area.
You can hike up to the top, or you can take a ropeway to the top.
Or you can hike one way and take a ropeway the other way!
No matter how you choose to get to the Mt Moiwa summit, you’ll be treated with some of the best city views of Sapporo!
