How to get to Yoyogi Park by train
Important stops to know about when you want to go to Yoyogi Park:
- Yoyogi Koen Station (maybe your train destination)
- Yoyogi Hachiman Station (maybe your train destination)
- Harajuku Station (maybe your train destination)
Because Yoyogi Park encompasses a big area, there can be multiple ways (sides) to get to Yoyogi Park. But this will get you started in figuring out how to get to the general area!
To get to Yoyogi Park, you can arrive by train to Harajuku Station, Yoyogi Koen Station, Yoyogi Hachiman Station, or another nearby station from anywhere in Tokyo. It just might require a transfer or 2!
If this is your first time in Shibuya, you may also be interested in going to Takeshita Street. This is one of Tokyo’s famous streets in Tokyo’s famous Harajuku area. You can first take a walk along that Takeshita Street before you make your way to nearby Yoyogi Park.
You may also want to go to Meiji Jingu before (or after) you go to Yoyogi Park. This is one of Tokyo’s famous shrines. It’s practically right next to Yoyogi Park.
If you want to go to either of these places first (and even if you don’t), Harajuku Station can be a perfect train station for you.
Harajuku Station provides easy access to Yoyogi Park. It’s a few minutes walk from the train station to Yoyogi Park.
Google maps makes travel around Japan super easy, and that includes getting to Yoyogi Park!
You just need to know the “destination” you need to enter in google maps!
In this case, your destination can be Harajuku Station.
So on google maps, after you’ve entered the destination, select the public transportation icon!
It is also helpful to change the departure time to a time that you might be leaving. (Try any time during the day for the best results.)
If the current time is at night, the suggested route may be unhelpful!
If you are traveling with a JR pass, the Harajuku Station is a JR train station. Although depending on where you’re coming from, it may also require a non-JR train to get to Yoyogi Park.
Google maps also gives approximate cost so you will know how much you need to spend to get to Yoyogi Park.

General tips for taking the local train to Yoyogi Park (and most local trains in Tokyo)
Once again, consult google maps to guide your way!
It makes knowing where to get on the train and where to get off the train super easy!
You should absolutely get a SUICA card or PASMO card for local train travel around Tokyo!
These are types of IC cards, and they make it so that you don’t have to keep buying individual train tickets at each station, which can be time-consuming!
The IC cards are essentially cash cards.
They do not save you any money.
You just pre-load the cards with cash so that you don’t have to bother with buying individual train tickets before every single ride.
You will just swipe the card through the ticket gate before you get on the train, and you swipe the card through the ticket gate after you get off the train!
You just need to make sure you have enough cash on the card.
When you swipe through the ticket gate, it will tell you how much money you have on the card.
If it turns out you don’t have enough money to get you to your final destination, no problem! You will find “re-charge” stations around, including in the ticketed area.
